With International Women’s Day (IWD) in sight, there’s never been a better time to celebrate the accomplishments, inspiration, and innovation that women, and those who identify as women, contribute to the world.

The Oxford Dictionary defines inspiration as “The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something creative.” But how does inspiration present itself in your life, business, creative pursuits, and the way you face the world? Women continue to persevere and motivate generations of future leaders, creators, and change-makers striving for inclusion. That’s something to celebrate!

“Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” is the official theme for IWD 2024. To put this theme into action, ask yourself how you will celebrate women, and consider the following suggestions:

How will you play a part in supporting this initiative?

  • Amplify women’s voices
  • Share positive success stories

Who are the women in your life that inspire you?

  • Tell the inspirational women how you feel
  • Show gratitude for the role they play in your life

What will you do to show these women you appreciate them?

  • Sign up for a course led by a woman
  • Buy a book written by a woman and tell your friends about it

Is there a young woman you can lift up and mentor?

  • A daughter, a friend, a niece—they look to you for knowledge
  • Encourage the next generation to reach for their goals

Do you lead by example and include women in all aspects of your business?

  • Ensure leadership roles include women
  • Empower women to push boundaries

At Advisors.to, we believe in supporting the growth and success of women in the wealth advisor industry. According to Sun Life Global Investments, only 15 – 20% of financial advisors are women. And yet, female investors are 2.5 times more comfortable dealing with female advisors.

Women’s financial needs are still underserved compared to men’s, and to assume women are on a level playing field with men would be naïve. Strong moves toward inclusion have increased over the years, but there’s a long way to go before attaining equality.

The female coaches on our team outnumber the males, and our male counterparts strongly support the women’s efforts, skills, and initiatives. This is teamwork at its best. Our coaches are led by example and shown firsthand what a respectful, inclusive environment looks like by Co-Founder and Director of Possibilities Joanne Ferguson.

Our coaches exemplify strong leadership, encouragement, talent, and mutual support.

We’re proud to acknowledge and celebrate the inspirational women on our team:

Aly Auer – Corporate Performance & Well-Being

Sofia Costantini – Women & Leadership

Olivia Crane (Pinho her married name) & Lydia Reid – Social Media & Digital

Monique Kavelaars – Cohesion & Culture

Sandra Margolese – Finding Your Voice

Beth Seaton – Websites & Project Management

And a shout out to Katie Attard, Business Operations Partner

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” – Maya Angelou.

It’s up to everyone, regardless of gender, to support this movement and continue to advance and promote women’s equality. If you’ve been the recipient of a guide or mentor on your path to becoming an advisor, pass on what you learned. Elevating another’s success benefits the entire industry, and the results are tangible.

“Surround yourself only with people who are going to take you higher.” – Oprah Winfrey.

When you, your team, and COIs expand your reach to include more women, knowledge is shared, and the wisdom of talented women reaches a new group of advisors ready to take the lead.

Women should not only be part of the conversation—they should be the conversation.

Happy International Women’s Day from the entire team at Advisors.to!
